F.A.Q.

Q: What is this year's theme?

A: Live long and prosper, Scifi is this year's theme!

Q: Will you have Covid measures in place?

A: Yes! We will be monitoring local and CDC guidelines and following all recommendations. We will have individually wrapped food and candy, hand washing stations, hand sanitizers, wave starts if necessary.

Masks will be recommended at the start line, finish line and while in the festival area. You do not need to wear your mask while running.

Q: Tell me about this whole virtual thing - how does it work?

A: You have the unique opportunity to sleep in, avoid parking hassles and run anywhere and anytime you want on race weekend, October 29 or October 30th. Heck, you can even use your trick-or-treating miles! Sign up and we send you out your race packet so you have it in your hands before October 29th. You run or walk a 10K, 5K or 2 mile distance. Report your miles on our results page and take part in our online costume contest and treasure hunt.

Q: Tell me about this costume contest!

A: Prizes for best costumes. To better plan your costume, the following categories will be a part of the contest: Best Scifi character, Scariest, Funniest, Team, Kids and Dogs.

Q: What other fun stuff do I get along with my registration?

A: Long sleeve cotton shirt

A: Halloween treats like candy, candy corn, hot apple cider and pumpkin bread

A: A custom running race bib

A: A race fridge magnet

A: A surprise finisher's swag item (in year's past it has been a beanie, running light, bib holders..)

A: If you opt for the Trees not Tees we will plant a tree in your honor.

Q: When will I get my stuff?

A: If you signed up for virtual, we will mail out your packet the week of October 26th via USPS. In-person packets can be picked up at Seward Park on race morning or at pre-race packet pickup at West Seattle Runner on October 29 1:00pm-5:00pm.

Q: Is there a time limit?

A: Nope! We will be out there until the grim sweeper comes through with the last participant, regardless of time.

Q: Can I bike the course?

A: Unfortunately due to liability issues we can't allow cyclists to be a part of the run.

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: Yes! We ask that you line up in the back of the starter area and keep your well behaved pooch on a short leash. There is even a dog category in the costume contest.

Q: Are strollers allowed?

A: Yes!!! We just ask that you be mindful of other participants, especially at the race start and keep to the right so others can easily pass.

Q: Will there be aid stations?

A: Yes! We will have 1 aid station for the 5K and 2 milers and 2 aid stations for the 10K. We will be serving water and candy corn, you know, to keep your sugars at the appropriate levels!

Q: Where do I park?

A: There is a very small lot on the north side of the park, a slightly larger lot on the south side of the park but the best parking is up the hill, and to the right or in the surrounding neighborhoods (please be respectful of driveways and early morning noise).

Q: I am a fastie, will there be prizes for top runners?

A: Yes! We have prizes for the three top male, female and non-binary runners in the 10K and 5K. Recognition and a small item will be given to 1st place age category winners in each age division in Male, Female and Non-binary.  Awards will be presented at 11:00am on race day. Awards will not be shipped.

Q: Kids Dash, how does that work?

A: Kids dash is about a quarter of a mile, out and back dash that will take place before the other races begin. It will start and finish at the regular finish line. Kids 12 and under can participate and it is free. We have some fun finisher's items for them. Parents or guardians can, but don't have to, run with their little goblins, ghouls and witches. Registration is free but we do ask that you register to know how many we can expect.

Q: My kids get bored super easy, what is there for them to do?

A: We are here to entertain!

A: There will be a free treasure hunt, where they can find ghoulish items in the park and turn them in for prizes. Starts at 8:15am.

A: Kids tent filled with coloring, games and activities

A: Free kids dash. Starts at 8:45am.

A: Costume contest with a kids division. Starts at 9:00am.

A: Tons of candy to keep their sugar levels high

A: Free photo booth with fun backdrop and props to spark creativity

A; Run or walk any of the distances with you!

Q: What miles count for the virtual option?

A: All miles that are meant to be for this race, meaning miles you do while yardwork or going back and forth to the fridge do not count.

Q: I am a good person, can I donate to LLS?

A: Yes! There is an option to donate at the time of registration.
